Vivek V. Venkataraman, PhD

I am a biological anthropologist and behavioral ecologist who is broadly interested in the evolution of the human diet. How do primates find, acquire, process, and distribute resources, and how do these processes influence social structure and organization?

My work primarily involves long-term field studies of wild primates (in Ethiopia) and human hunter-gatherers (in Uganda and Malaysia).

I am currently a College Fellow in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University. I earned my PhD from Dartmouth College in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2016. My bachelor's degree is from the University of Chicago, where I studied physics and philosophy.
